You must have paid, full-time or part-time equivalent hours work experience in the previous 10 years. Full-time equates to at least 30 hours each week. That employment expertise must have been obtained during the last ten years.

How do I apply as a FSW?

If you are eligible to apply under the FSW category, you may submit your profile to Express Entry. Express Entry is a new online application system for economic immigration categories, such as the FSW. You create an online Express Entry profile and then submit it to the system. The Federal Skilled Worker Program receives a large number of profiles from this pool each week, based on criteria such as their immigration category, country of origin and occupation type.

If your profile is chosen, you will receive an Invitation To Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

You will need to complete an application for permanent residence (visa) and submit it, along with other supporting documents, within 90 days of receiving your ITA. If you do not receive a visa before the expiry date on your passport, we recommend that you travel with both passports.
